Seated Cookie Monster Frog

Sometimes as I work with materials, a piece doesn’t go the way I planned, and I have to shelve it. That happens fairly often. I call it the Edison Light Bulb Factor. As, these Frogs didn’t work out, but they are still valuable. And, by the way, have you ever tried to find out the value of an old Edison light bulb that didn’t work out? Well, you can’t find one - maybe in a museum or something like that. But, really, they are remarkably rare if they exist at all.  

Walt Disney was the same way. Remember those old Disney animations, like Snow White and Cinderella? Well, the cels were so valuable at the time, those transparent plastic cels they drew and painted the animation on, that when done with a film, they would actually wash the cel so they could use it again. There goes the artwork. Can you believe they did that? All that beautiful artwork washed away. Just think how valuable those cels would be if Disney had not done that. 

That is why I feel that the Frogs I make that do not quite work out and for some reason I would shelve, are still of value. A lot of my customers feel the same way. 

And this one, really looks like the Cookie Monster. Your child would love it. Thinking of that, affordable art for a child is a nice thing, if it is a type of work that would appeal to them. (My work does, most of the time.) I say that because you are teaching them how to care for something, understand the value of it, and you are also giving them an heirloom. 

This Frog has great surface texture. I swear I think this Frog wants a big oatmeal cookie - and maybe a fly or two and some salt water to wash it down.
